BEST RESALE STORE and BEST ECO-FRIENDLY FAMILY STORE

Award Winning, Eco-Friendly Kids Store

Monrovia, CA  - Earth Day (April 20) is about generations coming together to support the planet and to share resources. To mark the annual observance and continue their mission to encourage a green family environment, Monrovia based Diggin For Daisies honors the day by inviting local parents and children to take part in a gently used book donation drive for the Monrovia library from April 16-20, leading a neighborhood trash pick up and book exchange on Saturday, April 20, and providing kid-friendly ideas about how they can make a smaller footprint on the planet.

Diggin For Daisies is a “green” kids boutique focusing on environmentally conscious products and thinking and was voted 2013’s Best Eco-friendly Family Store and Best Resale Kid’s Store by Macaroni Kid and won the Readers Choice Award from The Arcadia weekly. Diggin for Daisies carries new wood and bamboo toys, books, cloth diapers and other eco-friendly accessories and has an “up-cycle” (pre-loved) “Wear and Share” program for children’s clothing ages 0-6.

In hosting this event, Diggin For Daisies owner Shayna Fiore says "As mother of a two-year old boy, I love having this opportunity for kids and their parents to come together to celebrate Earth Day. Last year we planted daisies and this year we are sharing stories via a book exchange and engaging families in cleaning up their community. Kids love to have new stories and by having an exchange we hope to show how fun it can be to reuse, recycle and share. Every time we can teach our children even small ways to be gentler on the Earth and leave a smaller footprint it can bring about real positive change.”

Top 10 Things Kids Can Do To Leave A Smaller Footprint On The Planet

1. Turn off the lights when you leave a room.

2. Remind your parents to use reusable bags when you go shopping.

3. Turn off the water while you are brushing your teeth.

4. Clean out your closet.  If it doesn't fit, donate it or bring it to your local consignment shop.

5. Use both sides of a piece of paper when coloring.

6. Have a toy swap with your friends.

7. When you go for a walk, grab a bag and pick up trash.
